Condominium

This condo was a unique experience. I had 100% artistic liberty to design and create this one-of-a-kind space. The before and after pictures here really illustrate how I transform spaces.

The loft space above the kitchen was open so I framed it out and after some frosted/sound suppressing laminated glass, the loft experienced more light AND privacy.

Redesigning the fireplace was fun. Make it functional and simplify. Since I switched the fireplace from logs to gas, it was possible to change out the hearth to something more artistic. The plaster work in a neutral color finished the space out.

This particular one has a sink instead of a stove so that it is free from grease and is a better way to keep children away from a hot range.

The ladder at the end of the hallway was entertaining but I like the stairs better. Take a close look at the handrail. I only had 62 inches total clearance, so we needed to be creative. I designed and fabricated the 'over/under' handrail.

The master bedroom didn't have space for an appropriate closet, so this built-in at the foot of the bed was my answer. Lots of storage and really organized.

Here is the view from upstairs of the frosted windows. You gotta love the light. At the end of the loft is the new bathroom that had been a closet. I also changed that closet location to the right side of the space where I installed the built-in unit. It needed to be cut into the attic space. There was just enough room to provide hanging clothes above and drawers below. This eliminated the need for other furniture to fill the area so it gave a nice open feeling to the whole loft.

The full shower in the upstairs loft was quite a trick. Check out the can light over the vanity - I wrapped the large exposed beam in drywall right over the sink which now translates as an appropriate nook for the vanity.

The stairs in the background actually look nice instead of the silly loft ladder.

I insisted on adding the skylights. They added more sunshine than any of us thought we could get. Since it was a condo, we couldn't change out any of the windows. The skylight was our solution to a dark space.

This was the space we had for the master bath. Viewed from the door entrance, you can see the radical wedged shaped shower (with bench seat). Because the shower head and control were on the wide end, it seemed spacious.

Studio Condo

Not a large job in a little condo, but a big leap for a 1970's kitchen. The initial interview gave me so much insight into the needs of the client, resulting in the little office work space they didn't know they needed.
